Highlights of the issue:- 1. The Cover Story of this edtion is about first of its kind occurence in the history in which a Tamil writer Perumal Murugan has announced that he has quit writing and also withdrawn all of his novels so far. Controversy started around Perumal Murugan's nove 'Madhorubagan' which was published in 2010 and later translated into English by Penguin as 'One Part Woman'. Caste and religious outifts whose identity are yet to be revealed started protesting the contents of the novel since it alleged portrayed women of Thiruchengode and the Kailasanthar Temple in that Western Tamilnadu town in a very bad light. The protesters did not relent even after the writer came forward to remove the objectionable contents in the next edition of the novel. After a meeting organised between both the parties by the District Revenue Officer of Namakkal district, both the parties signed a 'peace' treaty which included Perumal Murugan's unconditional apology and assurance that henceforth he will not write anything controversial. After this meeting Perumal Murugan announced that the 'Writer' in him is dead.

India Today Tamil's cover story includes an analysis on the scenario that lead the Writer to announce his exile, a special Guest column from Gopalakrishna Gandhi, the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and Former Tamilnadu Chief Minister C.N.Rajagopalachari and a host of important Tamil writers: H.G.Rasool, Jeyamohan. Ashokamithran, Ravikumar, Salma and Vasanathi. Notably Rasool. Salma and Jeyamohan have been victims of such oppostions and protests for their own creative works.

2. The Big Story is about the 'Do It Youself' Freelance Terrorists who operate in digital formats and has become a new threat to India. Inspired by Terrorist outfits like Al Qaeda and ISIS, these 'lone wolves' are young, brutal and are ready to unleash mayhem.
