Ek sal nooit vergeet nie hoe verlore ek was toe ek die eerste keer in Australië groente gekoop het. Vol vertroue het ek by Woolworths ingestap in die oortuiging dat Woolworths in Australië net ‘n replika van Woolworths in Suid-Afrika sou wees. Groot was my verbasing toe daar ‘n hele klomp vreemde groentes in die rakke voor my uitgestal was. Selfs die aartappels was vreemd! Jare lank het ek slegs die bekende wit aartappels gekoop, maar na ‘n ruk het ek ewe dapper die perses probeer. Ek het gereken dat die skilkleur sekerlik nie die smaak kan beïnvloed nie, maar hoe verkeerd was ek nie! Die pers aartappels met ‘n gelerige vleeskleur is veel lekkerder as die gewone wittes. En dit was die begin van my avontuur om vreemde groente en vrugte uit te toets. In hierdie uitgawe vertel Renier du Plessis meer oor die verskillende soorte aartappels wat beskikbaar is en hoe om daarmee te kook.
