The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADED) had launched its first phase of the Dual License Initiative. The aim of the Dual License Initiative is to encourage investment whilst also boosting the economic development across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. In essence, this scheme will enable the companies to carry out their commercial activity both onshore in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, as well as operate in the Emirate’s free zones. This move has been in alignment with the economic initiatives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan and His Excellency Said Al Hajeri, who affirm the purpose of this initiative is to primarily widen the horizons of business transactions in the Emirate.
The Dual License Initiative forms a vital part of the 50 billion dirhams stimulus package, which will benefit numerous sectors including services, trading and financial consultancies. The initiative provides the conditions for eligibility of different types of companies, including Limited Liability Companies (LLCs), Special Purpose Companies (SPCs), Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs), to name a few. Further, the procedure for obtaining the dual license has been comprehensively defined.
In this issue of Court Uncourt, our lawyers will elaborate on an array of legal matters including Dual License Initiative in Abu Dhabi, Regulation of Media in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Consequences of Filing a Wrong Police Complaint in the UAE, Anti-bribery and Anti-corruptions laws in the United Kingdom, Guide on Tax Regulations in Hong Kong, Arbitration Law under the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, Censorship of Films in India, Legality of Termination for Convenience Clauses, etc.
