Premiums may rise

Pandemic-era tax credits that lowered some ACA premiums to as little as $10 are set to expire in 2026, so many consumers will see premiums rise substantially, says Cindy George, senior personal finance editor at GoodRx (goodrx.com).

Out-of-pocket hikes

"In 2026, ACA plans will cap individual spending at $10,600 and family spending at $21,200—a 15% increase over 2025," says George. "That means you'll have to spend more out-of-pocket before insurance pays covered benefits at 100%."
