Connor Datri treasured the locket that held a pinch of his late mom's ashes. When he lost it on the soccer field, he was heartbroken, sure it was gone forever. But for one kind stranger, giving up was not an option

- Bill Holton

"It was precious to him, so I had to help find it!"

Ten-year-old Connor Datri was visibly upset when he got home to his grandmother's house after soccer practice. "What's the matter?" Melissa Moriarty asked.

"Oh Mimi!" Connor burst into tears. "I lost Mommy!"

"What do you mean?" Melissa asked, baffled.

Connor held up a broken chain. "It broke when I fell down. We looked and looked but we couldn't find her!"

Connor and his brother, Alex, 13, lived with their grandmother. Their mom had died after a car crash, and the only thing the boys had left of her were matching lockets, tiny gold hearts holding her fingerprint and a pinch of her ashes. Connor rarely took his off.

"It's got to be there somewhere," Melissa said, and headed back to the Plymouth, Massachusetts, school field with Connor, Alex and her son, Kyle. They searched until long past dark, but they had no luck.

The Mary Tyler Moore SHOW

From That Girl in the 1960s to Ally McBeal in the 1990s to Sex and the City in the 2000s, television has long reflected the shifting image of independent women. Yet the true game-changer came in 1970, when The Mary Tyler Moore Show introduced Mary Richards—30, single, stylish and making her way in a newsroom full of men. Rather than being someone’s wife or daughter, she was the star, and she changed television forever. Join us for a look back at rare behind-the-scenes photos of the groundbreaking show as we celebrate its 55th anniversary.

Happy money, happy holidays

The holidays are here (yay!), and with them comes both joy and, let's be honest, stress. For many of us, the shopping lists, entertaining costs or the ache of an empty chair at the table can dim the sparkle of the season. If that's you, please accept my wishes that the days land lightly.
