4 easy hacks from the Glucose Goddess help women like JoAnn Berkowitz cure cravings and slim down with ease Want relief from irresistible cravings that make it impossible to slim down? Georgetown University-trained biochemist Jessie Inchauspé, aka the Glucose Goddess, is here to help. She's famous for no-diet-required hacks that steady blood sugar (or, in fancier terms, blood glucose) and trigger "better health, tons of energy, better mood and better sleep." Plus, many of her 5 million followers report that urges to eat junk disappear along with spare pounds. JoAnn Berkowitz, 73, is one of them. "I can finally make good choices without feeling deprived, and it has been huge for me," shares the educator from Medina, Ohio. "The scale came down so fast, I thought it was broken!" Read on for Jo's story and to learn how Glucose Goddess hacks may help you.

For those who don't know, the body turns all carbs into blood glucose to use as fuel. It's completely natural. What's not natural: diets loaded with highly processed sweeteners and starch, which cause constant blood-glucose spikes and crashes. For most of history, "a drop in blood glucose meant food scarcity," notes the author of global bestsellers The Glucose Goddess Method and Glucose Revolution. "As a survival mechanism, a glucose crash signals us to seek energydense foods." So even if we ate 30 minutes ago and our fat cells are overflowing, we want more pizza or cookies.

Roller-coaster blood glucose also inflames and damages our insides, leading to more problems. That includes chronically high levels of insulin, "a fat storage hormone that locks fat in fat cells," per Cleveland Clinic functional medicine expert Mark Hyman, M.D. Yes, restrictive diets like keto can help. But Inchauspé says they often aren't necessary if we simply weave anti-spike strategies into the way we already eat.

The Mary Tyler Moore SHOW

From That Girl in the 1960s to Ally McBeal in the 1990s to Sex and the City in the 2000s, television has long reflected the shifting image of independent women. Yet the true game-changer came in 1970, when The Mary Tyler Moore Show introduced Mary Richards—30, single, stylish and making her way in a newsroom full of men. Rather than being someone’s wife or daughter, she was the star, and she changed television forever. Join us for a look back at rare behind-the-scenes photos of the groundbreaking show as we celebrate its 55th anniversary.

Happy money, happy holidays

The holidays are here (yay!), and with them comes both joy and, let's be honest, stress. For many of us, the shopping lists, entertaining costs or the ache of an empty chair at the table can dim the sparkle of the season. If that's you, please accept my wishes that the days land lightly.
