Fourth-generation Clydesdale breeder Greta is teaching daughter Quinn how to raise the iconic breed

Greta Stanfield calls her horses “magnets,” meaning people are drawn to them and, when you see one, it’s hardly surprising.

Greta is a fourth-generation breeder of Clydesdales, a huge but gentle breed with a long history in Australia. “They vary from 16 to 19 hands [1.6 to 1.9 metres]. Our biggest, Mia, is 18 hands and weighs over a tonne,” Greta, 42, from Boonah tells Woman's Day.

“Not everyone has had the opportunity to see a Clydesdale before. When we take one into town with the carriage people want to jump in! They’re such beautiful horses.”

From Scotland originally, this breed came to Australia in the 1800s.
