Whether you were around for the last coronation or not, May 6 is going to be a very special occasion. So why not celebrate it in style? From the all-important invite to seating rules, Zarife Hardie from the Australian School of Etiquette reveals how to throw the ultimate formal party!

INVITATIONS 

Group texts might be fine for casual get-togethers, but Zarife says an old-fashioned paper invite is a must for fancy celebrations. "The invite is integral and it must be posted," she says. "Keep it simple, classy and elegant. Include a finishing time."

MENU

It might be tempting to show off during occasions like this, but Zarife says now isn't the time to bite off more than you can chew. So if you haven't tackled a beef Wellington before, don't attempt it now. "Keep the menu simple - it's not about expensive ingredients, it's about people," she advises. "Try to choose something that doesn't keep you away from your guests in the kitchen."
