A shocking documentary hopes to prove the Doors frontman faked his death

For decades, speculation has been rife that the Doors' lead singer Jim Morrison faked his own death.

Now, three-part documentary Before The End, by selfprofessed superfan Jeff Finn (inset), streaming on Apple TV+, hopes to prove the theory that the iconic American singer-songwriter is alive - and living in Syracuse, New York, under a new identity.

After taking a leave of absence from the Doors in March 1971, Jim joined longtime girlfriend Pamela Courson in Paris.

It was in the City of Lights that, at 6am on July 3, Pamela reportedly found the 27-year-old dead in the bathtub in their apartment. His official cause of death was listed as heart failure and no autopsy was performed. He was buried at Paris' largest cemetery, Pere Lachaise, on July 7.

However, conflicting reports from eyewitnesses, including singer and actress Marianne Faithfull, insisted he died of an accidental heroin overdose. But the band's keyboard player Ray Manzarek has long believed his friend faked his death.
