Why some couples swear it's the secret to a happy marriage

IS IT TIME FOR ASLEEP DIVORCE?

Lately, a new trend has been taking over bedrooms around Australia. Once a cause for concern, the sleep divorce is becoming normalised and some couples swear it’s made their relationship stronger.

Nearly one in four Aussies are trying time in separate rooms to manage their snooze-related issues, according to AH Beard Sleep Wellness Centre manager Rachel Beard. “It’s often expected that couples sleep together, but since everyone has different sleep habits, this isn’t always what's best for supporting a good night's sleep,” she explains.

As we learn more about the impact that sleep has on our wellbeing, Rachel says it makes sense that more couples are prioritising a night of quality, restful shut-eye. “Sleep informs our physical and mental performance, recovery, mood, memory, hunger levels and more,” she explains.

Getting enough slumbertime will also leave you feeling less tired and cranky, so there's an argument that a sleep divorce might even help some relationships.
