Peter Falconio's killer was defiant until the very end

Just over 24 years since the brutal murder of Peter Falconio, his outback killer Bradley John Murdoch has died - and has taken the location of Peter's body to the grave with him.

Murdoch, 67, was moved from Alice Springs Correctional Centre to the palliative care unit at Alice Springs Hospital days before he died from terminal throat cancer on July 15.

Reacting to the news of Murdoch's impending death, Peter’s father Luciano, 83, said he still lives with “extreme sadness” that his son was killed and hasn’t been able to lay him to rest. “Upon hearing [Murdoch] had died, our first feeling was of relief, it's like a weight that’s been lifted,” Luciano and his wife Joan said in a statement from their home in Hepworth, UK.
