SUCCESS! WE LOST 28ST

Woman’s Own has proudly partnered with The 1:1 Diet Slimmer Awards this year and we asked you, our valued readers, to vote for who you thought deserved to win The Transformation of the Year award. We are thrilled that so many of you got involved and now we are pleased to announce the winner…

Donna McCaulsky, 49, lives in south London.

My weight had been a problem for as long as I could remember. As a child I’d eat hearty meals, go for seconds and would always find room for dessert. It meant that by the time I was 18, I was a size 18 and, after heading to university, I continued with the same habits – no portion control and eating calorie-ridden desserts most nights too.

Later, with a busy job in the civil service, I’d grab unhealthy food on the go. In my mid-20s, I was a size 22 and at 5ft 4in I was overweight. But I was so career-driven, I didn’t prioritise my health. ‘I’m too busy to think about my diet,’ I convinced myself over the years.

But in 2022, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition and prescribed steroids, which really made my weight rocket. I hit a size 30 and my lower back was in constant pain. When walking became a struggle by May 2023, it was a massive wake-up call.
