In 2025, Brazil has set its eyes on surpassing its record of 6.9 million international visitors in 2024. As it looks to attract more Indian travellers, Brazil is enhancing air connectivity, agent training and promotional efforts. Alisson Andrade, Head of International Markets, Brazil tells India Outbound that India is a key focus in Brazil's long-term tourism growth strategy.

Q What is Brazil's tourism targets for 2025, including expected visitor numbers and key source markets?

We want to increase both the number of tourists visiting Brazil and their overall spending. Last year, we broke a record by receiving 6.9 million foreign visitors. This year, we aim to surpass that number, which is why we are actively working on promotional initiatives to attract more international tourists.

Which are the key markets for Brazil in 2025?

We have strong traditional markets in our neighbouring countries. Argentina leads in numbers, as around one-third of our international tourists come from there. The United States is second, with about half a million visitors. In Europe, our key markets include France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and Portugal. We are also keen to attract more tourists from Asia, especially from China and India.

How are you tailoring Brazil's tourism offerings for the Indian market?

We are developing a focussed strategy to highlight the best that Brazil has to offer to Indian travellers. We understand that there is strong interest in iconic destinations like Rio de Janeiro, Iguazu Falls and the Amazon Rainforest and these are the key attractions we are preparing to promote. In addition, we are collaborating with airlines to improve connectivity and ensure a more comfortable travel experience from India to Brazil. These are the core pillars of our approach.

How will you reach out to Indian travel agents, or will you target B2C directly?
