Netflix is teaming up with NASA to stream live space events, including rocket launches, astronaut spacewalks, and real-time views of Earth from the International Space Station, starting this summer.

NETFLIX BRINGS NASA'S SPACE ADVENTURES TO YOUR SCREEN

LIVE FROM THE COSMOS

The partnership brings NASA‘s ad-free streaming service, NASA+, to Netflix’s 700 million global users, making cosmic spectacles accessible within the platform's interface alongside movies and series. The content, included in all Netflix subscriptions at no extra cost, aims to inspire a new generation by showcasing the thrill of space exploration from the comfort of home.

NASA+, launched in 2023, offers high-definition feeds of launches, spacewalks, and mission updates, previously available only through NASA‘s app and website.

The Netflix deal expands this reach, tapping into the streaming giant's massive audience to fulfill NASA's 1958 Space Act mandate to share its mission widely. Rebecca Sirmons, NASA+ general manager, emphasized the goal of sparking wonder, noting that viewers can now watch a Falcon 9 ignite or an astronaut float outside the ISS without leaving their couch.

imageThe move aligns with Netflix’s push into live programming, following successes like WWE Raw and NFL games. No specific launch date for the NASA+ streams was shared, but detailed schedules will drop closer to the rollout.

A FRONT-ROW SEAT TO SPACE

The NASA+ content on Netflix will feature live rocket launches, often from Cape Canaveral or Kennedy Space Center, where SpaceX ’s Falcon 9 has led a surge in commercial missions. Viewers can expect to see the fiery ascent of rockets carrying satellites or crew, like the recent Axiom Mission 4 with astronauts from India, Poland, and Hungary. Spacewalks, where astronauts perform maintenance or experiments outside the ISS, will also stream, offering heart-pounding visuals of humans working 250 miles above Earth.
