Dive into the promising future, envisioning drones mimicking dragonflies, aquatic robots inspired by jellyfish, and soft robotics emulating octopus tentacles. These innovations, equipped with lab-grown biological components and driven by Artificial Intelligence, pose not only revolutionary potential but also ethical challenges

Transforming industries with cutting edge robots

In 2016, on one of the many such airport security queue passes, I witnessed the head of Sophia laid on a tray that was slowly being pushed into the X-ray machine. It made an eerie sight. The world has always been fascinated by robots and most of us who grew up on Johnny Sokko and his Giant Robot Sunday morning series hold vivid ideas about the potential of robots.

South Korea is a leader with over 700 robots for every 10,000 workers and India at about 3 robots per 10,000 workers according to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR).

Robots have transcended the manufacturing domain into healthcare, technology, automotive, aviation and several other industries. The applications are mind boggling-you have robotic arms that are trained for neurosurgery, digital robots that process, sort and organize information, killer robots that can rain fire on the enemy and keep your borders secure to robots that can offer entertainment and companionship.

▾ Delve into the realm of biomimicry

Biomimicry-inspired robots are designed to replicate functions, structures and movements of natural organisms, plants and animals. It is a stream of robotics that requires a dedicated focus as it develops. The biggest advantage of biomimicry is that you are adapting something that has been already perfected by nature over millions of years to be efficient and safe.
