Brother ADS-4900W

PRICE £529 exc VAT from tradescanners.com

Brother's flagship desktop scanner delivers an impressive range of document digitising features at a good price. It's geared up for a heavy demand and can churn through mono and colour documents at 60ppm with a 300dpi resolution, has a generous 100-page automatic document feeder (ADF) and boasts a big daily duty cycle of 9,000 pages.

Connection options are in abundance: it offers USB-A and wired or wireless connection options, with the latter supporting 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi 4 networks. Its large 10.9cm colour LCD touchscreen makes light work of walk-up scan operations, and menus can be easily customised to offer staff a wide range of job options.

Brother includes a good software bundle, with Windows users having the iPrint&Scan and ScanEssentials utilities, while mobile users get the Mobile Connect iOS and Android apps. You also get a firmware update tool, Tungsten Automation's PaperPort 14 SE digital file cabinet and Power PDF 3 OCR and document conversion tool.
