GOOGLE PIXEL 9A A HALF- HEARTED EFFORT?

Google has launched the most affordable variant, the Pixel 9a, which positions itself as a direct competitor to the iPhone 16e in the mid-range market.

Priced at ₹49,999, the Pixel 9a promises flagship-level performance, impressive cameras, and Google's AI while maintaining an accessible price point. But does it live up to the hype, or does it cut too many corners to hit that price? Let's find out.

DESIGN

The Pixel 9a departs from the familiar Pixel design by eliminating the signature camera bar, opting instead for a minimalist dual-camera module that slightly protrudes from the back. This gives it a flat profile but results in a somewhat simplistic rear design. The recycled polycarbonate back, while sturdy, lacks the premium feel of glass or metal.

Retaining flat edges and rounded corners, the phone features a recycled aluminum frame and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The 6.3-inch P-OLED display shines with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2700 nits peak brightness, though the bezels are thicker than those on the Pixel 9, and it uses Gorilla Glass 3 instead of Victus.
