INSIDE TOYOTA'S NEW TEM MUSEUM

I've attended enough brand openings over the years to know when something feels engineered for press kits, and when something feels genuinely alive. Toyota Kirloskar Motor's new tem (Toyota Experiential Museum) at Bengaluru's Phoenix Mall of Asia falls firmly in the second category. It isn't just a showroom for technology or a gallery for Japanese aesthetics. Rather, it's a space shaped by a younger Toyota workforce that understands culture, community, and attention spans.

Walking in, the first thing that struck me wasn't a car or a screen. It was a vibe. A soft blend of Japanese minimalism and Indian mindful living, stitched together across 8,200 sq. ft. without shouting for attention. There’s a spacious calmness to tem, the kind Gen Z seems to specialise in. There's a quiet confidence to the design, and the courage to experiment with ideas is visible in each and every inch of the space. One of the Gen Z team members told me, "We wanted people to slow down." That philosophy echoes through every zone of the museum. Lighting that relaxes instead of overwhelming you. Installations that don't force you into brand messaging but invite you to explore intuitively. Even the layout feels like a stroll through a story rather than a commercial maze.
