As Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Phase 1 of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) on October 8, 2025, the air was charged with anticipation of 20 million passengers a year, as well as the silent revolution of technology that was transforming mega-projects from the ground up. A joint venture between CIDCO and Adani Airports, this ₹19,650 crore greenfield marvel wasn't created overnight. Digital twins, sustainable supply chains, and procurement techniques infused with Al analytics helped it thrive. Digital twins and Al in the build

Picture this. 1,160 hectares of salty marsh, a 90-meter hill to vaporise, and rivers to reroute. All while dodging monsoons and seismic risks. L&T Construction, the EPC powerhouse, handed over the keys in 2019 and tackled the project with vibro-compaction technology from global partners like the Keller Group, stabilising soft soils by pumping in 150 million cubic meters of dredged Mumbai Harbour fill. However, the real game-changer was Adani's adoption of digital twins - virtual replicas of the site that simulated every blast and pour before a single shovel hit the ground.
