Saracens bounce back in fine style

SARACENS, with Tom Willis looking every inch a starting England No.8, produced their best performance in a very long time to dismiss a strong and in-form Bulls side.

Mark McCall’s side were coming off an upset Premiership defeat at Newcastle last week and this was the most emphatic bounce back imaginable. Words must have been spoken, either by the coach or more likely the chastened players themselves.

For 80 minutes, first into the gale and then with the tempest on their backs, they played remorseless heads up, intelligent rugby which left Bulls punch drunk and bereft of ideas. Bulls have been going great guns and enjoyed a successful bad weather rehearsal in Galway last week against Connacht but ultimately were found wanting.
