NEXT weekend’s semi-finals see the Crusaders host the Blues, while the Chiefs progressed into the last four despite losing their quarter-final and have been handed a second chance when they host the Brumbies.

Despite suffering their first home defeat in eight matches, the Chiefs survive by virtue of finishing first, which guarantees progression to a home semi-final as the highest-ranked lucky loser.

Friday’s action saw the Crusaders secure a commanding 32-12 victory over Queensland Reds in, extending their flawless home playoff record to 30-0.

Head coach Rob Penney said: “We executed our game plan effectively, maintaining pressure and capitalising on key moments. The team’s discipline and composure were commendable.”

Captain David Havili added: “The forward pack laid a solid foundation, allowing our backs to exploit the space. It’s a collective effort, and today we showcased that unity.”
