Devon get set for Cheshire clash

DEVON sealed their place in the Bill Beaumont Division 2 final with a thrilling 27-20 victory over Staffordshire to set up a meeting with Cheshire at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham.

Staffordshire, under the guidance of fly-half Simon Weaver, took the early lead with a penalty.

Devon responded through Tom Searle’s try but Staffordshire soon regained the lead 10-5 after a well-worked try by fullback Chas Bunting.

Devon fought back before the break with a penalty from Calum Pearson, narrowing the gap to 10-8 at half time. Pearson kicked another penalty to put his side back ahead at 11-10 and Ben McCulloch crashed over for a try to overturn the deficit.
