MILLERS MADE FOR CHAMBERS

The Non-League Football Paper

SERIAL winner Ashley Chambers says Carlton Town tick all the boxes when evaluating his aims for next season - especially their intent to be in the promotion hunt.

MILLERS MADE FOR CHAMBERS

The 35-year-old has enjoyed a sparkling career in both the professional and semi-professional game.

That included being a key part of Gary Mills’ York City side that won promotion into the Football League in the same week they lifted the FA Trophy back in 2012.

A NPL Premier title medal with Buxton is also part of his collection and forward Chambers’ goals have also helped Coalville Town mount promotion pushes and enjoy FA Cup and Trophy runs before a tougher season last year with Basford United and Barwell.

But the former England C international is raring to go with the Millers as they go in search of Step 3 football for the first time in their history.

“One of the coaches, Darren Gee, is someone I worked with at York when we got promoted,” Chambers told The NLP.

“It came out of nowhere really but I met up with them a few weeks ago and I just enjoyed hearing the plan they’ve got for the club.

“They've moved divisions now (NPL East to NPL Midlands) which helps me with the travel in the league and is ideal for this stage of my life.
