CIAN COLEMAN’S hat-trick lifted Buxton to their highest league position of the season as they became the latest side to frustrate Scunthorpe.

The on-loan Leeds midfielder gave the Bucks the lead midway through the first half and added two more in the space of 12 second-half minutes as his side climbed to third in the table, inflicting the Iron’s first home defeat of the campaign.

Buxton boss John McGrath hailed Coleman’s contribution as “brilliant”. He said: “Speaking as a former central midfielder myself, it doesn’t get better than that – a great away performance, three points and you score a perfect hat-trick.

“Cian was brilliant all game. He was industrious, he used the ball well and he and Connor Kirby are forming really good partnership.”
