Returning Hemmo's at home

ASHLEY Hemmings says he felt at home straight away after swapping National League North for the South and completing a shock return to Dagenham & Redbridge.

The 34-year-old striker spent two rather underwhelming seasons with the Daggers in League Two before being released in 2016 following their relegation to the National League.

That led the former Wolves trainee and Walsall youngster to head back up north, turning out for the likes of Mansfield Town, Boston United, Salford City, AFC Fylde and Altrincham, on loan, before joining Kidderminster Harriers where his career really took off.

In six seasons at Aggborough, 'Hemmo' became an iconic figure, scoring 94 goals in 246 appearances for Harriers, culminating in his best campaign to date when he netted 30 times in Kiddy's promotion push last term, earning him both the National League North golden boot and player of the season awards.

Now Hemmings has been lured back down to Essex to lead the newly-relegated Daggers' promotion assault and the Lewisham-born front man said it was like he'd never been away.
