Tell us more about your association with the Indian sports system

I have a background as a professional cricket coach and a physical education teacher, and I currently head global engagement at the University of Birmingham’s School of Sport, Exercise, and Rehabilitation Sciences, which is ranked sixth in the QS World rankings. If the university sounds familiar, you may recall that we hosted the Commonwealth Games a few years ago.

My expertise lies in youth sports and talent identification, and I am passionate about supporting these areas in India. I'm involved with initiatives like Khelo India, the TOPS program, and other projects focused on sports performance. It’s always a pleasure to collaborate and contribute to the evolving sports ecosystem in India.

I work with the Sports Authority of India, Inspire Institute of Sport (JSW), and quite a lot with IIT Madras at the moment, supporting their developments. I've written extensively about India and am really interested in the Indian Olympic athletic journey.

I’ve spent a significant amount of time gathering data with colleagues at Inspire, which will lead to several publications focusing on how we can identify young sports talent. This is an exciting development that I'm looking forward to sharing.

Most importantly, I have very close family ties to India—it’s my second home. That connection is incredibly significant to me and inspires my ongoing commitment to contributing to sports development in the country.
