I wish more top Americans would get off their backsides and come to Europe

|October 2025
I absolutely love the autumn schedule on the DP World Tour. It's one of my favourite times of the year and there's something so special about events taking place in the United Kingdom and Ireland. As I write this, the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth is about to kick off and I've just flown back from Dublin after witnessing a truly memorable Irish Open.

I really wish more of the top Americans would get off their backsides and come to play in Europe after the conclusion of the Tour Championship. I know Keegan Bradley was keen for his team to play in Napa ahead of the Ryder Cup, but it's hardly as if the top Americans flock to Europe in non-Ryder Cup years. There's a world outside the States and the top players should feel a duty to the game to travel and play. I also don't understand why they wouldn't want to. How good would it be to have the BMW PGA title or the Irish Open on your resume?
The Irish Open was just incredible. Ideally the field would have been slightly stronger, but the atmosphere was electric all week and the K Club was a magnificent venue. Before the tournament started, Rory McIlroy was welcomed with open arms as he displayed the Green Jacket. He's popular all over the world, but he's adored in Ireland. It was fitting, then, that he added a second Irish Open title come Sunday evening.
