Scientists hope unusual fluctuations in the gas giant's magnetic field might reveal what's inside

Under the swirling surface of the Solar System's biggest planet, unseen forces hold clues to what is hidden inside the gas giant. Now, a team of scientists from Harvard University say changes to Jupiter's magnetic field indicate the presence of mysterious waves moving deep within the planet.
A planet's magnetic field provides a window onto what's going on below its surface. Any changes to these fields can reveal interactions between a planet's magnetism, fluid flow and other forces.
