MODELLING COMET IMPACTS COULD HELP US LOCATE LIFE ON OTHER PLANETS

Cosmic snowballs in space may have delivered life-giving molecules to Earth

A long-held scientific theory proposes that comets deposited the essential molecules for life on Earth to begin. Researchers at the University of Cambridge's Institute of Astronomy suggest that the same concept could help us pinpoint other planets where life might also evolve.

"It's an exciting time, being able to combine advances in astronomy and chemistry to study some of the most fundamental questions of all," said Richard Anslow, first author of the paper, published in Proceedings of the Royal Society A.
