STAR WARS GENESIS

This full conversion is the perfect excuse to return to Starfield.

No one is more surprised than me to report this bit of news: it's 2025 and I am playing Starfield again. To be clear, I'm not saying I didn't like Starfield when it launched in 2023. I did like it, and I played it for more than 100 hours! I just thought I was finished with it. It's a good game, but it's light years removed from the sort of staying power held by Bethesda RPGs like Fallout 4 or Skyrim.

Less of a surprise: it's a cool mod that finally brought me back to Starfield, or to be more specific, a collection of several hundred cool mods that together form Star Wars: Genesis, a full conversion modlist that transforms Starfield into a big hunk of the Star Wars galaxy. Want to join the Imperial Navy and fly a TIE Fighter for the Empire? Want to pal around with R2D2 and make the jump to lightspeed in the Millenium Falcon? Want to race an X-34 landspeeder across Tatooine and fight some Tusken Raiders? You can do all of that in Star Wars: Genesis, and more.

Even the character creator feels like it's breathing new life into Starfield, because you can play as all sorts of alien races: Rodians (like Greedo), Trandoshians (like Bossk), Duros (the blue-headed dudes from the Mos Eisley cantina), Mon Calamari (it's a trap!), and a bunch more. Yes, you can even be a Gungan, if your dream has always been to inhabit Jar-Jar Binks. Just seeing all these alien character options makes me scratch my head at Bethesda's choice to go humans-only in Starfield. The company that made us fall in love with Argonians and Khajiit could have invented some awesome aliens, couldn't they? What a bizarre choice.
