World running record proves to be a walk in the park for Leeds lad Hugo

A schoolboy from Leeds has become the first eight-year-old in the world to complete a 5km parkrun race in under 20 minutes.

Hugo Roth broke the record on November 22, completing the Roberts Park parkrun in Saltaire in 19 minutes and 57 seconds.

Not only did eight-year-old Hugo finish in the fastest time for his age group, he also beat his personal best time by 55 seconds.

The achievement comes just a few months after he became the fastest seven-year-old to finish a parkrun back in May.
