Vets urge owners to learn first aid for their pets

First aid and knowing what to do in an emergency may be the difference between life and death, and it's no different when it comes to our pets.

From CPR, broken bones to seizures, knowing what to do can make a huge difference to our pet's health, wellbeing and recovery from injury.

In 2024, PDSA vet teams treated just more than 8,100 pets having a seizure. The average emergency treatment cost for the charity for seizures can be around £362.

Its teams also saw 2,700 fracture cases - more than 10 cases per working day on average.

It can be very scary when an accident happens but a simple understanding of pet first aid can really help.
