Tykes finally get off the mark and move up ladder

Leeds Tykes secured their first victory of the season in National One, lifting themselves off the bottom of the table thanks to a hard-fought 27-24 victory over Clifton at The Sycamores on Saturday.

Wing forward Lucas Walsh got them off the mark in the second minute with a try converted by the reliable boot of centre Ed Crossland who went on to kick all three conversions and a couple of penalties.

Clifton pulled level with a converted try of their own on 27 minutes, and the 7-7 scoreline held until halftime.

Right wing William Yates put Leeds back in front early in the second half and Crossland added the extras, before the Bristol visitors levelled again with their second try and conversion.
