Friends take tee before oar-some charity challenge

Two Yorkshire lawyers teed off to raise more than £31,500 for two local charities.

David Knaggs and Richard Larking will also take on the arduous 3,000-mile World's Toughest Row across the Atlantic in December in their bid to raise £150,000 for Maggie's Home of Cancer Care and Friends of Alfie Martin.

The charity golf day was held at Alwoodley Golf Club, when the pair were joined by 22 teams of four who took part in the tournament then enjoyed dinner afterwards.

The event raised more than £31,500 for the two Yorkshire-based charities - and is a big step in reaching their £150,000 target.

The coffers will receive another boost on Saturday when they host a black-tie Midsummer Night ball at the Pavilions, Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate.
