PDSA Vet Nurse Shauna Walsh answers all your pet questions

Tips on looking after your pet from PDSA.

Dear PDSA, how can I help my dog be more comfortable with alone time? Elle.

Hi Elle, the key is to build up alone time gradually, so pets don’t become worried or overwhelmed. Preparation is key. Make sure your dog has had a nice long walk before you plan on training them to feel comfortable being left alone, to burn off some energy and go to the toilet. Once they're okay with being left for a short time, you can gradually leave them for a bit longer. Pairing alone time with something positive, like a chew, puzzle feeder or destruction box creates a positive association, whilst keeping their minds active.

YEP's Gerard Binks visited the depot.
