Adventure quest TV as we look for the mysterious Lost Symbol

A series that boasts all the elements of mystery, myth and intrigue, all wrapped up in a quest to solve the riddle of an ancient artefact.

Adventure quest TV as we look for the mysterious Lost Symbol

The Dan Brown adaptation of The Lost Symbol has all the ingredients to make it a hit with the usual Brown elements of cryptography, art, and conspiracy theories present, but is it any good?

I binge-watched the series on MY 5 and, like many reviewers, found it to be a mixed bag. There were some good performances, but I accepted from some critics who had actually read the book that it may lack the punch of the novel.

However, as I haven't read the 2009 novel I took this series at face value and found it to be a good pot boiler that keeps the viewer gripped enough to stick with it to the end.

The series is a prequel to the Professor Robert Langdon film series - the title character in the movies played by Tom Hanks - and features Ashley Zukerman as symbologist Robert Langdon. It also stars Eddie Izzard, Beau Knapp, Rick Gonzalez, Valorie Curry and Sumalee Montano in main roles.

The series opens with Langdon being summoned to Washington DC, where he is informed that his mentor, Peter Solomon (played by Eddie Izzard), has been abducted.
