Hail Swadeshi, strike fear in our enemies

On Tuesday, when Prime Minister Modi, speaking from Gujarat, renewed his call to make India a developed nation by 2047 and to swiftly transition from the world’s fourth-largest economy to the third, his message carried a deeper, decisive note: to achieve this goal, India must embrace Swadeshi—the use and promotion of indigenous products.

- By: Rakesh Sharma

Hail Swadeshi, strike fear in our enemies

This is more than just a patriotic slogan. It is a clear strategy aimed at safeguarding national interests—especially at a time when India faces both internal challenges and external hostility. On one hand, the nation is neutralizing threats from its terror-infested neighbor, while on the other, global powers like the US and China frequently attempt to thwart India’s rise as a developed force.

China, in particular, has crossed limits. It exports billions of rupees’ worth of goods to India, amassing enormous profits. With those very earnings, it sells weapons to Pakistan at discounted rates. It publicly sides with our enemy, questions India’s right to execute Operation Sindoor, and absurdly suggests we should have provided “proof” of Pakistan's involvement in terrorist attacks.

But did China fail to notice how, after the May 7 operation, Pakistan wrapped slain terrorists in its national flag and gave them a hero's farewell? That military officers and politicians attended the funerals and offered prayers? That Pakistan still harbors wanted terrorists like Hafiz Saeed, Masood Azhar, and Dawood Ibrahim? That Osama bin Laden was hidden in Abbottabad until the Americans found and eliminated him?

Yet China continues to turn a blind eye. Is there a greater example of hypocrisy?
