Travellers leave cricket pitch before injunction

A GROUP of travellers who set up camp at Plymstock cricket pitch have been true to their word and left it in good condition, the club chairman has confirmed.

The cricket club at Deans Cross said it had to cancel fixtures after their well-manicured field became home to an unauthorised encampment earlier last week.

Bill Wakeham, chair of Plymstock Central Sports, confirmed that the travellers left the site before a Devon and Cornwall Police injunction was due to kick in.

He said the travellers had been true to the assurances they gave him when he visited them, and by and large, he said the group left the pitch in a fairly good condition.

"It's in a good state I have to admit," the former Plymouth City councillor told Plymouth Live.
