Plymouth prepares for return of fireworks spectacle

THE countdown is on to Plymouth's most explosive event of the year.

The British Firework Championships will return to Plymouth Hoe next month for a spectacular 'Champion of Champions' event. It will see six previous winners invited back to present 10-minute displays as they compete to be crowned the 'Best of the Best' over two nights in August.

Beyond the competition, organisers say there will be live music from the "best bands around" from the South West. There will also be food and refreshments available to buy.

Last year's British Firework Championships saw BBB Fireworks crowned as winners, with Celestial Firework Displays, from Leicestershire, named as runners-up and Pyrotex Fireworks claiming third place. The Young People’s Choice Award went to Pyrotex Fireworks.

The 2025 British Firework Championships will take place on Plymouth Hoe on Wednesday, August 13, and Thursday, August 14. Three firework companies will be competing each evening, at 9.30pm, 9.50pm and 10.10pm:
