Parkway beaten, but Tivvy off the mark

PLYMOUTH Parkway fell to a second consecutive defeat in the Southern League Premier Division as they went down 2-0 to Weymouth on their return to Bolitho Park.

The former National League side took the lead early on through on-loan Torquay United defender Matthew Carson and wrapped up the three points five minutes from time, thanks to a strike from Tom Hewlett.

The Yellows found themselves physically outmatched against strong opposition and, despite having spells of dominance, they were crucially missing the cutting edge needed to claw themselves back into the game.

Despite it being a relatively disappointing start to Parkway’s season, manager Chris McPhee has taken positives from the performance but felt as if one crucial call went against his side.

“In terms of result, it absolutely wasn't the bounce back we wanted but the feeling I have is a completely different feeling to what I felt after the game on Saturday”, said Parkway boss McPhee.

“There was a certain sense of pride in the way we went about our business today. There was real character, real energy, real heart in our performance, and we knew exactly what to expect from them.
