Homecoming for iconic helicopter at SW museum

AN historic military helicopter was spotted on a Somerset road as it arrived at its new home

The Westland Sea King HU Mk.6, donated by RAF Heritage, is going on display at The Helicopter Museum in Weston-super-Mare.

It's believed to be the first of its kind to join a museum collection anywhere in the world.

It marks a homecoming for the helicopter, which was built at Yeovil in 1981. ZA133 served the Royal Navy for 25 years, clocking up over 8,000 flying hours.

It saw action in the Falklands conflict of 1982, operating from HMS Hermes and RFA Fort Austin, and later supported NATO operations in Bosnia and the Gulf.

The aircraft was delivered to the museum last week after a carefully planned move by specialist contractors Recovair.
