Cleverley is grateful for Home Park support

TOM Cleverley declared he was ‘hugely grateful for the support’ after his first competitive match as Plymouth Argyle head coach was played out in front of a near full house at Home Park.

The result certainly did not go the way the 35-year-old former Manchester United and England midfielder would have wanted it to as the Pilgrims lost 3-1 to Barnsley, despite the South Yorkshire side oniy having 10 players on the pitch for the closing half-an-hour after defender Jack Shepherd was sent-off for a second bookable offence.

However, the sights and sounds of a packed Home Park on a matchday, especially with the banners and flags before the kickoff, made a big impression on Cleverley.
