A DAY'S cookery course with Devon Cookery School, but what to choose?
I love Bake Off, so the thought of making tarte tatin, Paris-Brest Chocolate, and salted caramel tartlets was almost too hard to resist. But when I read “this session will take your skills to the next level’, I didn’t really think winning a prize for my carrot cake at Stithians Agricultural Show over 40 years ago could be considered a skill.
What about The Art of Chocolate? I've certainly perfected the art of eating it, but I thought I should really choose something that stood a better chance of making it home. How about exploring the bold flavours of Indian cuisine? Well, I had a session, again a long time ago, with the great Madhur Jaffrey, which set me on a basic Indian path. I was also lucky enough to get to grips with Chinese cuisine on a couple of occasions with Ken Hom, so no Chinese.
A “Feast of the Wild Game Butchery” was out, as I don’t eat meat. Mexican Street Food? Well, my niece is Mexican, so I've had some good help in that area.
