WORLD CUP DREAM IS OVER - WHAT NEXT FOR WALES?

BRENDAN Rodgers says Adam Idah’s move from Celtic to Swansea City is now “very close”.

Rodgers named his squad for the Old Firm clash with Rangers yesterday with Idah’s name noticeable by its absence from the teamsheet.

We reported on Friday that Swansea and the Hoops had agreed a fee for the striker, with Rodgers stressing later on in the day that he would only sanction the Republic of Ireland international’s exit if he got a replacement in through the door.

Idah travelled to south Wales but was recalled to Scotland. A move now appears to be on the brink.

“I think it’s still ongoing,” Rodgers told Sky Sports before the game with Rangers at Ibrox.

“It's obviously the club are in talks with Swansea, so obviously not available today. That’s the current situation.”

He added: “Availability of good players, you always want that. But clearly it’s very close. It’s not quite there yet but we have to do without him, Adam has scored big goals in games against Rangers and he’s not here so we have to focus on the players that are here.”

Former Parkhead striker and Sky pundit Chris Sutton branded the situation “a total mess” from a Celtic perspective.

Sutton said: “The Adam Idah situation sort of sums up Celtic in recent times and their transfer policy.
