GLOUCESTER director of rugby George Skivington has hailed Tomos Williams's return as “massive.”

The Welshman is back in action as he prepares to lead the club as captain in the new PREM Rugby campaign.

The scrumhalf endured a painful summer as he was forced to fly home from the British & Irish Lions' tour of Australia early after suffering a hamstring injury while scoring a try during their first warm-up match against the Western Force at the end of June.

After spending the rest of the summer getting back to full fitness, Williams is set to make his return to action for Gloucester’s league campaign opener away to Sale Sharks tonight.

A hugely impressive 2024/25 campaign saw the Wales international named as the best player in the English top flight in his debut season for the Cherry & Whites, and he now heads into the new season with more responsibility, having been named club captain by Skivington last month.
