Urgent appeal for animals ‘desperately’ in need of help

Two of the many animals at Dean Farm Sanctuary in need of hay and straw this winter

A SANCTUARY caring for rescued animals in Wales is “desperate” for donations as costs rise and donations fall.

Dean Farm Sanctuary, based near Chepstow, has launched an urgent appeal to help feed and care for its 180 rescued animals this winter.

The winter hay appeal was launched because of a severe shortage of grass and hay which has come about after long dry months, price rises and a drop in people making donations, on which the sanctuary relies. It is looking to raise more than £5,000.

Many of the animals in the care of the sanctuary have come from backgrounds of neglect, abuse or were rescued after being unwanted by their owners.
