A WOMAN stole a £5,000 diamond ring from a jewellers shop while staff weren't looking, a court has heard.

- JASON EVANS

Megan Taylor says she has no idea where the ring is but a judge has said she must know, and he has given her a week to “think long and hard” about its whereabouts before she is sentenced.

Swansea Crown Court heard that on January 25 this year Taylor went into the Simon Hughes Fine Diamonds shop in Swansea’s Quadrant shopping centre to discuss a bespoke ring she was ordering for her partner.

The court heard the defendant sat down with a sales assistant and was looking through a tray of rings when she asked for a drink of water.

When the staff member went to get the water Taylor quickly removed a ring from the tray and moved the neighbouring rings around to hide the gap.
