Courtney Baker-Richardson celebrates scoring Newport's first goal
County remain bottom of the League Two table but this vital victory, thanks to strikes from Courtney Baker-Richardson and Cameron Antwi either side of an own goal, moved them to within a point of safety after 14 games.
“I’m really pleased for everybody,” said Hughes.
“For the supporters it’s a long way but they came up in their numbers and it’s really pleasing to send them home with three points in the bag.
“I'm ecstatic for the players. I felt as if we showed bits of everything that’s required to win a game.
“We could have had more goals, but I’m being greedy.
