REFORM candidate Llyr Powell, pictured below, has responded to his party’s “disappointing” by-election loss in Caerphilly.

After the result was declared in Caerphilly Leisure Centre shortly after 2am, Mr Powell was asked by journalists what went wrong.

He admitted it was a “disappointing” result but was “excited” to see what his party could do going forward.

At the count, Mr Powell said: “We're going to analyse what's happened here. I can’t give you an answer directly now, but I’m excited to see what we're going to do moving forward.

“We're going to release a lot more manifestos, you're going to see a lot more candidates but what we're going to see is a lot more Reform MSs elected in May.

“That's because what we're building here is a movement, and the people are a part of that. I’m looking forward to it”
