Lifting benefit cap helps families

A MOTHER of five predicts she will receive an additional £900 per month in benefits after the two-child benefit cap was abolished in the Budget.

Lisa White, a 31-year-old stay-at-home mum, raises her five children aged between three and 10 with her partner, David White, 35, at their home in Monmouth.

The couple have been dependent on universal credit and child benefits since David had to stop working due to mental health issues.

They currently receive around £1,900 a month in benefits but Lisa expects that from April she'll receive a total of £2,770 a month thanks to Rachel Reeves’ budget.

She described yesterday's announcement as “very beneficial” for her children, saying it will allow her football-obsessed son to finally join an after-school club.
